Legal Knowledge Engineer (Attorney)

Translate statutes, case law, and regulatory requirements into machine-executable logic. You are the human-in-the-loop for our rule ingestion pipeline.

Responsibilities

Analyze statutes and case law to extract deterministic legal rules
Collaborate with engineers to translate legal logic into executable code
Validate FTL system legal plans produce correct output across jurisdictions
Identify edge cases and jurisdiction-specific variations
Maintain knowledge base of legal rules and regulatory updates
Review generated documents for court filing compliance
Serve as legal domain expert for product development

Requirements

Active bar membership in Illinois (or willingness to obtain)
10+ years legal practice, preferably estate planning or trusts
Deep understanding of legal reasoning and statutory interpretation
Ability to break down complex legal rules into logical components
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
Comfort working with engineers and technical systems
Must be Chicago-based or willing to relocate (hybrid 2-3 days/week)
Bonus: Legal tech or document automation experience

Compensation

$130,000 - $160,000
